Leonard Kleinrock, 1986

Kleinrock created the basic principles of packet switching, the technology underpinning the Internet, and directed the transmission of the first message ever to pass over the Internet. He is a pioneer of digital network communications, and helped build the early ARPANET. Currently, Professor Kleinrock is a Professor of Computer Science at the University of California at Los Angeles.
