Building Tomorrow’s Wireless World

2018 is already shaping up to be the year of wireless. 5G is all the rage, from skepticism about the economic viability of scale deployment to the inevitable technology showcase at the Pyeongchang Olympics in February. As a key component of the chronically hot Internet of Things infrastructure, wireless will touch everything from wearables to healthcare to smart cities.

Dr. Andrea Goldsmith, Marconi Society board member and The Stephen Harris Professor at Stanford’s School of Engineering, is a long time leader in wireless research and innovation. From authoring one of the foundational textbooks in wireless communications to studying leading edge technology such as molecular communications, she continues to be at a forefront of wireless.

In this seven minute video clip, Dr. Goldsmith shares her thoughts about the next frontiers in wireless and how concepts from the past are as relevant as ever in solving tomorrow’s problems. She offers a window into the research underway in her Wireless System Lab and opens our minds to the requirements for different applications.

Dr. Goldsmith gets us all thinking about what the wireless future will be.
