Marconi’s Young Scholars are moving up, building companies

Yuan Shen (2010) has returned to Tsinghua University as an Associate Professor after finishing his Ph.D. at MIT.

Sasha Biberman (also 2010) completed his Ph.D. at Columbia. He went on to found Jisto, Jisto “creates a private elastic compute cloud for the enterprise out of the enterprise’s idle server/cloud resources. This allows enterprises to run many more applications on their existing, already-paid-for resources.”

Eitan Yaakobi (2009) is now teaching at Israel’s Technion, where he earned his BA and M.Sc. He earned his Ph.D. from the UCSD Jacobs School of Engineering, endowed by 2011 Marconi Fellow Irwin Jacobs.

Sébastien Soudan (2009) is CTO and a founder of Cloudweaver, offering Software as a Service based automated Cloud Monitoring, Analytics and Optimization.

Salvatore Campione (2013), currently a Postdoc at Sandia National Lab, has published more than 20 peer-reviewed journal articles, more than 40 conference papers, and 2 book chapters. His research interests include metamaterials and their applications, plasmonics in nanostructures, and optical devices with super-resolution.

Diomidis Michalopoulos (2010) is working on the important problem of energy efficiency in wireless networks. He’s also teaching at Institute for Digital Communications, Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg.
