The Marconi Prize is awarded to individuals who have made a significant contribution to the advancement of communications
through scientific or technological discoveries or innovations. Recipients are expected to pursue further creative work
that will add to understanding and development of communications technology for the benefit of mankind.
It is customary for the Marconi Prize recipient(s) to deliver an address the year following receipt of the Prize. This
address is intended to reflect their year's endeavors.
The Marconi Prize, awarded annually, includes an honorarium and a work of sculpture.
Recipients of the Marconi Prize are designated Marconi Fellows.
Nominations for the Marconi Prize
The Marconi Society invites nominations of individuals worldwide as candidates who have made groundbreaking contributions
in communications technology that have benefited humanity, thus perpetuating the spirit and work of Guglielmo Marconi.
The Society's selection advisory committee evaluates all nominees and makes its recommendations to the Marconi Society
Board of Directors, which has responsibility for the final selection.
The Marconi Society welcomes nominations from learned societies and academies of all countries, as well as from individuals
in universities, industry and public life.
Nominations for the Marconi Prize should include: A nomination letter of no more than three pages which provides the reasons
for the nomination and explains the nominee's significant contribution to communications technology as well as its benefit to
humanity.
The nominator is required to supply the nominee's curriculum vitae and a list of his (her) major publications with no more
than two examples, as well as a list of awards received. The nominator should also supply the current address(es) and contact
information for the nominee. Three letters of support from recognized individuals who have substantial knowledge of the work
of the nominee are also required to complete the nomination package.
All these materials should be emailed to the Marconi Society office, and the original letters of support should also be sent
via US post. Though nominations may be submitted at any time, they are requested by June 30th of the year preceding the
awarding of the Prize. Some candidates may continue to be considered in following years.
