Salman Baset is working as a Research Staff Member at IBM T. J. Watson Research Center in Hawthorne, NY. He obtained his Ph.D. in Computer Science from Columbia University, under the guidance of Professor. Henning Schulzrinne, and B.S. in Computer Systems Engineering from GIK Institute, Pakistan. His research interests are in designing, building, and modeling, cloud-based and peer-to-peer systems. His current research at IBM is focused on over subscription of physical machines' resources and on automation of software and operating system updates in the cloud. He has been active in the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) and is coauthor of RELOAD protocol for building peer-to-peer communication systems. He is also involved with the SPEC OSG working group and is leading discussions to provide recommendations for a cloud benchmark. Salman received the Young Scholars Award in 2008 and a best paper award at IPTCOMM in 2010.
