ICANN85 Community Forum

The Marconi Society’s Internet Resilience Institute will be featured ICANN85 Community Forum, taking place March 7-12 2026 at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai, India.

The hybrid session will take place on Monday, March 9, 2026 (10:45am IST / 1:15am ET)

Institute insights will help frame a plenary session titled:

“From Stability to Survivability: ICANN’s Role in the Future of Internet Resilience.”

Is the Internet built to survive a global system failure? While the Domain Name System (DNS) remains stable, the environment it relies on – power grids, cloud providers, and global supply chains – is increasingly fragile.

This plenary session aims to shift the conversation from “technical stability” to “strategic survivability,” exploring how the ICANN community must navigate systemic shocks that cross traditional silos. Moving beyond technical protocols, this plenary session will examine the hidden dependencies of the DNS and the emerging threats identified in SAC132 and the Marconi Society’s Internet Resilience Institute Report.

Join a cross-sector panel to debate ICANN’s unique role in strengthening the ecosystem against catastrophic outages and to help define who bears the responsibility for global resilience in an age of cascading risk.

Several leaders participating in this plenary also serve on the Marconi Society’s Internet Resilience Institute Advisory Council, reflecting the Institute’s active role in shaping global resilience discussions.
