Education
- Masters of Science degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, MIT
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and Engineering, with the President of India Gold Medal, Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IIT-G)
Young Scholar Research
Venkat Arun is recognized for his research in designing networked systems with provable performance guarantees. Venkat is completing his PhD in the department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) under the guidance of Hari Balakrishnan and Mohammad Alizadeh in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
Venkat’s goal is to enhance the understanding of networked systems and their heuristics, particularly in terms of their performance and failure modes. He employs automated reasoning techniques to analyze and prove the performance properties of these heuristics and identify real-world failures. His influence on the industry is evident through the adoption of his congestion control algorithm for Meta live video uploads.
Achievements
Contributions to the COPA congestion control algorithm, new models for networks with provable performance guarantees.
